Cellphone thief cuffed after street struggle robbery in Southwest D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 35-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a robbery earlier this month in Southwest D.C. where a victim’s cellphone was forcibly stolen during a street struggle.

The incident unfolded on Friday, April 4, around 6:45 p.m. in the 100 block of P Street, Southwest. The suspect approached the victim and grabbed for the cellphone, leading to a brief struggle before fleeing with the device.

Following an investigation, officers arrested Ervin Jackson of Southeast, D.C., on Wednesday, April 23. Jackson has been charged with Robbery (Snatch), according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Suspect charged as investigation remains active

Police have not released further details about the arrest or the recovery of the stolen property. No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery.

Detectives did not indicate whether Jackson is connected to any other incidents in the area. The investigation remains ongoing.
