CHAZY, N.Y. – A North Country man is behind bars without bail after police say he fatally shot his wife and left her body along a rural road in Clinton County.

New York State Police said 33-year-old Keith A. Henry of Plattsburgh was arrested Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Chloe S. Henry of Mooers, was reported missing two days earlier and later found dead in a wooded area off Ridge Road in Chazy.

Victim reported missing before discovery

According to investigators, State Police received a missing person report for Chloe Henry around 2:57 p.m. on October 19. She had last been seen with her husband in the Plattsburgh area. The search ended two days later when her body was located in Chazy, several miles north of where she was last seen.

Police: husband shot wife inside his vehicle

Authorities said the investigation determined that Keith Henry shot and killed Chloe while inside his vehicle near Bear Swamp Road and Ausable Point in the town of Peru. He was later located, taken into custody, and brought to the State Police barracks in Plattsburgh for questioning.

Autopsy confirms homicide

On October 22, an autopsy performed at Glens Falls Hospital by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Michael Sikirica found the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the head and back. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Ongoing multi-agency investigation

The case is being jointly investigated by the New York State Police, Clinton County District Attorney’s Office, Plattsburgh Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, and Homeland Security Investigations. Keith Henry remains held at the Clinton County Jail without bail as investigators continue to examine evidence related to the killing.
