Plattsburgh wheelchair hit-and-run sparks urgent manhunt

Plattsburgh, NY – New York State Police are asking for the public’s help after a woman in a wheelchair was struck by a dark-colored SUV that fled the scene Thursday evening on Ampersand Drive.

Troopers responded at approximately 5:42 p.m. to reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Clinton County. According to police, a female victim in a wheelchair was hit by a northbound SUV that did not stop.

Authorities said the vehicle is believed to be a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep Patriot. The driver continued northbound on Ampersand Drive following the collision.

The condition of the victim has not been released.

Investigators are urging anyone with information about the Plattsburgh hit and run to come forward as they work to identify the driver and vehicle involved.

State police seek vehicle identification

Images released by New York State Police show a boxy, dark-colored SUV with round headlights consistent with earlier Jeep Patriot models. Troopers are reviewing area surveillance footage and canvassing for additional witnesses.
