Police Arrest Gunman in Deadly Double Shooting in Stafford

STAFFORD, VA – A significant collaboration between the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Fugitive Unit led to the arrest of 22-year-old Raheem Adams. The arrest took place at Adams’ residence in the Highpoint Subdivision on Wednesday morning.

Adams is facing charges of first and second-degree murder, as well as first and second-degree attempted murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on May 19.

The incident took place at a car meet in a shopping center parking lot located at the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike, Prince George’s County. The shooting resulted in the death of 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf and left another man with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit, aided by tips from the community and Prince George’s County Crime Solvers, successfully identified and charged Adams. He is currently held at Rappahannock Regional Jail awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.

The arrest is noted as a product of excellent teamwork between the two county law enforcement agencies, highlighting the importance of interdepartmental cooperation in addressing serious crimes.
