FREDERICK, MD – Detectives from both the Frederick Police Department and the Maryland State Police apprehended two teenagers in a stolen white Honda SUV last night, putting an end to a string of vehicle thefts.
Acting on community tips and an ongoing review of recent criminal activities, the joint force of detectives identified the SUV as matching the description of one reported stolen several days prior. Officers tailed the vehicle discreetly for a few miles, eventually stopping it safely at the intersection of Ballenger Creek Pike and Crestwood Blvd.
Upon being stopped, one of the teenage occupants bolted from the SUV, brandishing what seemed to be a Glock pistol. The suspect was swiftly taken into custody without further incident. Subsequent examination revealed the weapon to be a replica.
Both teens were released to their parents, awaiting charges as per Maryland state law. The original owner of the SUV, an elderly individual, arrived at the scene to reclaim the vehicle. It was later disclosed that one of the arrested teens had been involved in the theft of two other vehicles within the last month.
Concluding the operation, one detective was seen inflating the vehicle’s tires for the victim, assisting him in reclaiming his vehicle and ensuring his safe return home.
