Cumberland theft investigation leads to multiple criminal charges
CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland woman is facing numerous theft and fraud charges after police allege she used another person’s bank card to make multiple unauthorized purchases.
According to the Cumberland Police Department, officers served an arrest warrant on 38-year-old Miranda Elaine Skinner on Aug. 7 following a theft investigation.
Police said the alleged victim reported that a Chime bank card had been used for multiple fraudulent transactions.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from a business where the card was used and said the alleged victim identified Skinner in the video.
Skinner appeared before a District Court commissioner and was released on an unsecured $5,000 bond.
She faces multiple charges, including theft, theft scheme, credit card theft and fraud, obtaining property by counterfeit means and attempted theft.
The charges are allegations, and Skinner is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
