YONKERS, N.Y. — A Yonkers man has been arrested and charged with murder following the fatal shooting of Francisco Vallejo early Friday morning, according to police.

Officers responded around 2:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Ludlow Street and Riverdale Avenue. When they arrived, they found Vallejo, 35, with a single gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.

The Yonkers Police Department’s Major Case Squad, along with its Digital Forensics and Crime Scene Units, launched an investigation that led them to a suspect believed to have known the victim. Detectives determined a dispute between the two men escalated into violence, with the suspect allegedly firing one shot before fleeing the scene.

Authorities later located the suspect, identified as Fidencio Abreu, 41, at an apartment near Radford Street and Riverdale Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.

Abreu has been arraigned in Westchester County Court on one count of second-degree murder and three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on July 17.

A Yonkers man is in custody after allegedly killing a 35-year-old acquaintance during a dispute in the early hours of Friday morning.
