Police Continue Cold Case Investigation into 15-Year-Old Dillon Shearer’s Murder

November 1, 2024

WILMERDING, Pa. — Nearly a year after the fatal shooting of a teenager in Wilmerding, Allegheny County authorities are still searching for answers as they investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. On November 14, 2023, 15-year-old Dillan Shearer was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head at a residence on Patton Street. Emergency responders arrived at 319 Patton Street just before midnight, where they discovered the teen’s body inside the home.

The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit launched an investigation, but no arrests have been made. Detectives reported that two individuals were inside the residence with Shearer at the time of the shooting, though authorities have not publicly identified them or clarified their connection to the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as police seek additional information to clarify what happened.

In an effort to gather further leads, detectives believe that video evidence of the incident may exist and are asking for public assistance. They have not specified whether they believe the footage is from surveillance cameras or mobile devices, but they hope that community cooperation will provide crucial insight into the events of that night.

“Anyone that may have information on Dillan’s death is asked to contact the Allegheny County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS,” police officials said in a statement. Investigators emphasize that no detail is too minor and that callers can remain anonymous when providing information.

As Dillan Shearer’s family and the Wilmerding community continue to seek justice and closure, authorities are urging anyone with potential knowledge about the case to come forward, stressing that even the smallest piece of information could prove significant in resolving the case.
