Police continue search for suspect in Homestead homicide one year after fatal shooting

November 3, 2024

HOMESTEAD, Pa. — County Police are actively searching for a man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting that took place one year ago in Homestead. On November 2, 2023, 38-year-old Eric Stephens was shot and killed outside a home in the 300 block of E 12th Avenue. A second man was also seriously injured in the incident.

Through witness interviews, investigators identified 36-year-old Jonque Pettiford, also of Homestead, as the suspect. Detectives believe Pettiford shot both men multiple times following an altercation outside the residence. He is now wanted on charges of homicide, attempted homicide, and aggravated assault.

Pettiford is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing approximately 180 pounds, and is considered potentially armed and dangerous. Authorities urge the public not to approach him if seen. Anyone with information on Pettiford’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the County Police Tip Line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
