SEBASTIAN, FL – A woman has been arrested, and her child removed after mom’s suspected drug use in hospital parking lot.

A Sebastian woman was arrested on drug-related and child neglect charges after she was found passed out from apparent drug use in her car parked in a hospital parking lot while her toddler son slept on the floorboard.

The child was medically cleared and turned over to the woman’s mother. The Department of Children and Families was notified. The car was running and the air conditioner was on.

The woman, identified as Carla Nancy Taylor, 30, of the 600 block of Roseland Road, Sebastian, was roused from her sleep when Dep. Avila pounded on the window.

The deputy noted seeing a glass pipe on Taylor’s lap, commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. Other pieces of suspected drug paraphernalia were also seen in the car.

Taylor is currently in the county jail on $21,000 bail and faces several charges that include felony child neglect, fentanyl possession, methamphetamine possession, buprenorphine possession, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession.
