Missing man found in Mohawk River identified as Schenectady resident

Schenectady, NY — A body recovered from the Mohawk River has been identified as a missing 21-year-old man, bringing closure to a case that began weeks earlier.

Malachi Fennicks, of Schenectady, was reported missing on March 3. His body was recovered April 24 in Niskayuna.

Police said the investigation into his death found no evidence of suspicious circumstances.

Multiple agencies assisted in the recovery operation, including the New York State Police Dive Team, local fire departments, and regional law enforcement.

Officials extended condolences to Fennicks’ family as the case concludes.
