BALTIMORE, MD – Local police have joined hands with Jewish community leaders to bolster security ahead of the High Holy Days.
Baltimore County Police Department (BCoPD) recently met with synagogue and faith leaders to discuss safety measures. The consultation aims to ensure secure environments for worship centers during the upcoming Jewish holidays.
The High Holy Days are significant in the Jewish calendar and have been marked by increased attendance at synagogues. They start with Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and culminate ten days later with Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Amid growing concerns of attacks on religious communities in recent years, these precautionary measures are deemed necessary.
Officials from the police department have confirmed that the security plans involve coordination among local law enforcement, community members, and faith leaders. Specific strategies are being tailored for different synagogue locations to address their unique security needs.
