Police investigate attempted carjacking outside ShopRite in Aberdeen Township

ABERDEEN TWP., N.J. — Authorities are investigating an attempted carjacking after an unidentified individual tried to enter multiple vehicles in a supermarket parking lot and nearby traffic Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Aberdeen Township Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:17 p.m. at the ShopRite located at 318 Lloyd Road and in traffic along Lloyd Road and Route 34.

The suspect, described only as a Black individual, allegedly attempted to access several parked and moving vehicles before fleeing the area. No injuries were reported.

Police released a photo of the person on social media and are asking for help from the public in identifying the individual.

“Their identity remains unknown and the investigation is active and ongoing,” the department said Tuesday.
