Police investigate attempted sex offense and home invasion in Crofton

CROFTON, Md. – Authorities are investigating a home invasion and attempted sex offense that occurred early Thursday morning at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Park Ridge Circle.

Anne Arundel County police responded to the scene at approximately 1:30 a.m. after receiving a report from an adult female victim. According to police, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence and assaulted her. Investigators believe the suspect’s intent was to commit a sex offense.

Officers, along with K-9 units and aviation support, conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The department’s Evidence Collection Unit processed the scene, and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division have taken over the case.

In response to the incident, police have increased patrols in the neighborhood while the investigation remains ongoing.
