Police Investigate Hit-and-Run in West New York That Critically Injured Pedestrian

WEST NEW YORK, N.J. — Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian critically injured after being struck by a motorcycle on Saturday afternoon in West New York.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the West New York Police Department were alerted to the incident at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Aug. 17. Officers responded to the area of Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street, where they found a 54-year-old Union City man with life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the motorcycle’s occupant or occupants fled the scene on foot following the collision. The injured pedestrian was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the hit-and-run to contact the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office or the West New York Police Department.
