Police Investigate Report of Deceased Baby in Marsh in South Jersey

Egg Harbor Township, NJ – Monday morning, Egg Harbor Township Police Department received a report of a possible child’s body discovered in the marsh off Ocean Drive near Longport Blvd. Major crimes from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey State Police assisted in what initially was treated as a homicide investigation.

However, it was later revealed that the object, thought to be a human wrapped in a blanket and duct tape, was, in reality, a silicone anatomically correct doll.

Continuing with the investigation, authorities are now working to determine who abandoned the lifelike doll and the reasons behind the peculiar act that led to resources being expended on the misunderstood item.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department thanked the ACPO and NJSP for their aid during the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information on the situation to come forward and contact the police department.
