WASHINGTON, D.C. — The D.C. Metro Police Department has apprehended three juveniles linked to a series of violent robbery attempts in Northwest D.C., bringing a sense of relief to the community.
In the early hours of July 30, at approximately 2:34 a.m., a victim was ambushed in the 1100 block of Vermont Avenue, Northwest. The victim was forcibly pulled into the street by one suspect while others surrounded him. One suspect demanded money and rifled through the victim’s pockets. The group then assaulted the victim before fleeing with his belongings. Despite sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, the victim declined medical treatment from DCFEMS.
The suspects, identified as a 13-year-old female from Northwest D.C., a 14-year-old female, and a 17-year-old female, both from Northeast D.C., were swiftly arrested and charged with assault with intent to rob.
Their crime spree did not stop there. The trio also faced charges for:
- Destruction of Property/Theft Two: This incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. in the Unit block of Thomas Circle, Northwest.
- Theft Two: Just minutes later, at approximately 2:36 a.m., the suspects were involved in another theft in the 1100 block of Vermont Avenue, Northwest.
Further investigation revealed that the 13-year-old and 14-year-old females were also responsible for an attempted robbery and assault later that morning:
- Attempted Theft and Assault: At approximately 9:20 a.m., in the 1400 block of Monroe Street, Northwest, the suspects attempted to snatch a victim’s purse. When the attempt failed, they resorted to physical assault before fleeing empty-handed.
The incident on Vermont Avenue remains under investigation. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for tips leading to an arrest and indictment of those responsible for violent crimes in the District of Columbia.
