Police search for suspects after shoplifting turns violent in dc

WASHINGTON, DC – A shoplifting incident in Northwest D.C. escalated into violence when a store employee was stabbed and threatened with a gun.

On Sunday at approximately 4:49 p.m., officers responded to an establishment in the 6200 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. A store employee confronted a man for shoplifting, leading the suspect to stab the worker with a knife. A second suspect then brandished a handgun and threatened the victim before both suspects fled.

DC Fire and EMS transported the injured employee to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Surveillance cameras captured an image of the first suspect, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

Anyone with information should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text a tip to the TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
