Police seek 18-year-old suspect in strong-arm robbery of juvenile in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Authorities are searching for an 18-year-old man wanted in connection with the robbery of a 13-year-old boy that took place Sunday night in Woodbridge.

Officers responded to the intersection of Clipper Drive and Mayflower Drive at approximately 10:48 p.m. on October 20, 2024, after receiving reports of a robbery. According to the investigation, the juvenile victim was approached by two acquaintances, including Timothy Rutherford, 18. During the encounter, the victim was struck, and his phone was stolen.

The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

Police have obtained arrest warrants for Rutherford, who remains at large. He is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 173 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He faces charges of robbery and assault and battery.

Charges for assault have also been sought against the second juvenile suspect involved.

Anyone with information on Rutherford’s whereabouts is urged to contact the police.
