Police Seek Suspect in Jewelry Theft and Assault on Children in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — A distressing incident occurred on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at approximately 3:15 PM near Eastern Parkway and Ralph Avenue, where two young girls were assaulted during a robbery. The New York City Police Department is actively searching for the male suspect involved.

According to reports, the suspect approached a 14-year-old girl and her 6-year-old sister from behind, demanding the older girl’s gold necklace. Upon her refusal, the assailant began to choke the younger child with one hand while forcibly removing her gold necklace. He then snatched the necklace from the 14-year-old before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victims were promptly transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where they were treated and are reported to be in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion, approximately 5’8″ tall, with a large build, aged between 25 to 40 years, and dark hair tied in a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, dark shoes, and was carrying a gray and red Target shopping bag. Notably, after the incident, he put on a gray hooded sweatshirt over his white t-shirt.
