PARSIPPANY, N.J. – A power outage is affecting customers in Parsippany Sunday afternoon, prompting police to ask residents not to call 911 for outage-related issues.
The Parsippany Police Department said JCP&L is aware of the outage and is working on restoring service. As of the department’s latest update, the estimated restoration time was approximately 5 p.m.
Police did not immediately provide the number of customers without electricity or identify what caused the outage.

Residents can check restoration estimates or report an outage directly through JCP&L rather than contacting local emergency dispatchers.
“Please only use 911 for emergencies,” Parsippany police said.
Restoration estimates can change as utility crews locate damage and determine what repairs are required. Residents without power can check their address and the latest estimated restoration time through the JCP&L outage system.
The outage comes on a Sunday afternoon when homes and businesses around Morris County may be affected until service is restored.
