Beaver County store sells $2 million winning Powerball ticket as jackpot climbs to $1.1 billion
MIDDLETOWN, PA — One lucky Powerball ticket sold in Beaver County is now worth $2 million after matching all five white balls during Saturday’s drawing, just as the nationwide jackpot swells to a staggering $1.1 billion for tonight’s drawing.
The winning ticket, sold at Sheetz at 2733 Constitution Boulevard in Chippewa Township, matched the numbers 1-28-31-57-58. The player had added the $1 Power Play option, doubling the standard $1 million Match-5 prize to $2 million.
As a reward for selling the winning ticket, Sheetz will receive a $10,000 bonus from the Pennsylvania Lottery. The ticket holder has not yet come forward, and prizes can only be claimed after tickets are validated. Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
The Pennsylvania Lottery urges all players to sign the back of their physical tickets and check them thoroughly. Online winnings are automatically processed and appear in players’ accounts once verified.
Saturday’s drawing wasn’t just lucky for one person — more than 179,100 tickets sold in Pennsylvania won prizes, including over 35,400 that used the Power Play option and more than 18,800 that added Double Play.
Since the current jackpot run began, Powerball sales in Pennsylvania have exceeded $82.7 million, generating more than $33.1 million in profits that directly benefit programs for older Pennsylvanians.
The jackpot for tonight’s drawing has now reached an estimated annuity value of $1.1 billion, with a lump sum cash option of $503.4 million.
