Prince George’s County Police Seek Information in DeadlyShooting of 19-Year-Old

CHILLUM, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department is currently investigating the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Carlos Hernandez-Ortiz, which occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Chillum. In an effort to advance the investigation, authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.

The incident took place on April 10, 2024, at around 12:05 pm in the 500 block of Chillum Road. Responding officers discovered Hernandez-Ortiz outdoors with multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Unit detectives are actively seeking to determine the motive behind the shooting and to identify any suspect(s) involved. The police urge anyone with information related to this case to come forward and speak to a homicide detective by calling 301-516-2512.
