Reckless Off-Roading Leads to Arrest Near Salisbury Zoo

March 28, 2025

Salisbury, MD – On March 10, at around 3:56 p.m., coordinated efforts by the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and Salisbury Police Department’s Joint Community Action Team (JCAT) led to the observation of illegal off-road vehicle activity near the Salisbury City Zoo.

The operation involved tracking two dirt bikes and a four-wheeler, all lacking proper registration, as they committed multiple traffic violations. The riders ran stop signs and performed stunts on public roads.

One individual, Antoine Orlando Jones Jr., aged 23 from Delmar, operated a blue dirt bike with a female passenger, neither wearing helmets. The group traversed various city streets, including the vicinity of Salisbury University. Law enforcement intercepted them near Mt. Hermon Road, at which point Jones attempted to escape on foot.

Jones resisted arrest after being pursued on foot but was eventually apprehended following a brief struggle. The off-road vehicles were impounded by authorities. Although other individuals involved have been identified, the investigation is ongoing. Subsequently, Jones was taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center and later appeared before a commissioner.

He was briefly held before posting bail.
