Cumberland man busted after yanking car door handles in business lot

CUMBERLAND, MD — A 56-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after being caught on camera pulling car door handles in a business parking lot he was banned from entering.

Officers responded to a business on Wineow Street following a report of suspicious activity involving an unidentified male trying to access vehicles in the lot. Surveillance footage confirmed the man had been tugging on car doors, according to police.

The suspect, identified as Brit Redden of Cumberland, had previously been trespassed from the property by management. He was arrested at the scene and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center.

Redden was charged with trespassing on private property and rogue and vagabond. He was later released after posting a $1,000 unsecured personal bond following a hearing with a District Court Commissioner.
