Republican Air Force Vet Joins Crowded Primary Field To Unseat Dem Senator In 2024

Air Force veteran Tony Grady joined a growing Republican primary field Tuesday to unseat Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen in 2024, according to an announcement video.
Grady is a businessman, retired lieutenant colonel for the Air Force, was a pilot for FedEx and ran for lieutenant governor in 2022, according to his campaign website. The announcement video depicted Grady during his time in the Air Force while describing his campaign platform.
“United States of America present day — crime, illegal immigration, inflation. And now Washington elites want to choose our candidate? Not a chance,” the video reads. “Tony Grady — warrior, commander, conservative.”
Grady will also advocate for parental rights in education, and is pro-life and pro-Second Amendment, according to his campaign website.
Grady came in second place in last year’s GOP primary after current Lt. Gov. Stavros Anthony, where he lost by nearly 6 points, according to Ballotpedia.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the Senate GOP’s campaign arm, is focusing on more moderate, electable candidates in 2024, citing losses in the 2022 midterms with contenders aligned with former President Donald Trump. The Cook Political Report characterizes Rosen’s Senate seat in the “lean D” category for the 2024 cycle.
Numerous Republicans are vying to take on Rosen next year, including decorated Army veteran and NRSC recruit Sam Brown, who ran for Senate in 2022 and has already outraised the GOP primary field in his short time as a candidate.
Former state lawmaker Jim Marchant, former Trump administration Ambassador to Iceland Jeff Gunter, former 2022 Senate candidates Barry Lindemann and William Conrad, Ronda Kennedy and Stephanie Phillips are also running for the GOP nomination, according to Politico.
