Brick police investigate student threat at Veterans Memorial Middle School

November 21, 2024

BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Brick Township Police are investigating threatening statements made by a student at Veterans Memorial Middle School, officials announced Wednesday.

The incident, reported to police on the afternoon of November 20, prompted detectives to work closely with school officials to assess the situation. Following an initial investigation, authorities determined there was no credible threat to the safety of students or staff at the school.

Police Chief David Forrester thanked the school administration and individuals who came forward with the information, underscoring the importance of community cooperation in ensuring safety. “Brick Police and Brick Schools want to assure the community that we always take such incidents seriously and will investigate all threats to their lawful conclusion,” the department said in a statement.

Authorities encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity or threats directly to the police, school officials, or through the anonymous WeTip system on the school district’s website.

The investigation remains ongoing, but officials emphasized their commitment to maintaining the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the broader community.

Officials reassure that student safety remains a top priority amid an ongoing investigation into school threat.
