A crash involving a utility pole on Coastal Highway Saturday night left one person injured and prompted a medevac response.

OCEAN CITY, Md. — Emergency crews responded to a vehicle crash with injuries Saturday night at the intersection of 56th Street and Coastal Highway, according to Ocean City Police.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:48 p.m. and involved a vehicle striking a utility pole. Ocean City Police Department and Fire Department personnel arrived on scene shortly after the collision.

One individual was injured in the crash. Ground paramedics requested Maryland State Police Aviation Command’s Trooper 4 for airlift transport of the patient. The condition of the injured person has not been released.

Traffic in the area was delayed as emergency services worked to secure the scene and coordinate the medical evacuation.

Authorities have not yet provided details regarding the cause of the crash or whether any citations will be issued.
