Robbers steal shoes and flee in wild Maryland plaza heist

Victim robbed of shoes in broad daylight outside Maryland grocery store

SILVER SPRING, MD – Detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects involved in a bold armed robbery where a man was assaulted and robbed of his shoes outside a busy shopping plaza late last month.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section, the robbery happened around 9:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30 in the 13000 block of Outlet Drive. Investigators say three suspects approached two men sitting outside the Global Food store when one suspect demanded a victim’s shoes.

As the victim resisted, one suspect grabbed him from behind while the other two forcibly removed his shoes. The suspects implied they had a gun during the incident, though no firearm was displayed.

The suspects — described as two Black males and one light-skinned male — fled on foot toward Castle Boulevard. Surveillance images released by police show the individuals inside a nearby store prior to the robbery.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspects to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County. Tipsters may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward ranging from $250 to $10,000.
