Robbinsville Police Conduct In-depth Training at Citizen Academy

October 10, 2024

Robbinsville, NJ – The Robbinsville Township Police Department hosted the fourth week of its Adult Citizen Police Academy on Wednesday. The session focused on training responses to active shooter situations, the use of tourniquets, and the operation of the department’s Drone Unit.

During the class, police officials introduced after-action reports from previous active shooter incidents nationwide. They emphasized the collaboration with the Mercer County Rapid Response Team to ensure a coordinated response with partner agencies. Advanced technology utilized by the police department was discussed, highlighting Robbinsville’s preparedness for such situations.

Participants in the academy were given demonstrations on implementing tourniquets through the “Stop the Bleed” program. They also received the opportunity to participate in simulated scenarios to practice systematically entering buildings and confronting threats.

The session included an overview of the department’s Drone Unit, showcasing the infrared thermal imaging capabilities of the drones. This technology is vital for search operations in low light conditions. The academy will continue next week, building upon the training received at the indoor training facility.
