A ticket purchased on Lyell Avenue hit a third-tier prize in Saturday’s Powerball drawing
ROCHESTER, NY – A Powerball ticket purchased at a Rochester Wegmans delivered a $50,000 win in Saturday night’s drawing, putting a five-figure prize in the hands of one ticket holder in western New York.
The New York Lottery said the third-prize-winning ticket was sold at Wegmans, located at 2301 Lyell Ave. in Rochester.
The ticket won $50,000 in the Sept. 12 Powerball drawing.
The Lottery did not provide additional information about the purchase or whether the prize had been claimed.
Powerball players select five numbers from a field of 1 through 69, while the red Powerball is drawn from a separate field of 1 through 26.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.
The New York Lottery reported contributing $3.6 billion to public schools statewide during fiscal year 2025-2026.
