Rockville City Police Issue Arrest Warrant After SUV Hits Pedestrians

ROCKVILLE, MD – The Rockville City Police Department has responded to a serious incident involving multiple pedestrians struck by a vehicle. On December 14, 2023, at approximately 2:36 PM, officers were dispatched to 199 East Montgomery Avenue following reports of an SUV hitting several people and fleeing the scene.

Upon arrival, police found three victims: a 79-year-old woman and two men, ages 22 and 18. All victims were promptly transported to local hospitals for treatment. The 22-year-old has since been discharged, while the other two victims remain in serious condition.

The investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for the driver, identified as 44-year-old Walter Giovanni Marquez-Aviles from Gaithersburg, Maryland. Mr. Marquez-Aviles faces three counts each of Attempted Murder and First-Degree Assault.
