Rosedale Retiree Wins 000 Lottery Scratch Off Jackpot at BJs

ROSEDALE, MD – After dedicating 42 years of service to the State of Maryland, a recent retiree from Rosedale celebrated a $30,000 win from the Peppermint Payout Multiplier scratch-off game. The winner, who claimed her prize at the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, initially purchased her winning ticket from a vending machine at BJ’s Wholesale Club #040 in White Marsh.

Initially confused by a message to visit Lottery headquarters after scanning her $3 ticket, the Baltimore County resident feared something might be wrong. It wasn’t until she fully scratched off the ticket and played the game that she realized she had won the top prize of $30,000. The revelation came after multiple attempts to ascertain the prize amount, including using the Lottery’s mobile app and seeking assistance from a clerk.

A loyal Maryland Lottery player since its inception in 1973, the winner recounted her joy over smaller wins throughout the years, beginning with a $40 win soon after the Lottery launched. Despite her long history of playing, the recent win feels surreal, likening it to a “fairy tale” with plans for the windfall still undecided.

BJ’s Wholesale Club in White Marsh, the retailer that sold the winning ticket, is also set to receive a $300 bonus for their part in the win, a gesture from the Maryland Lottery that equals 1% of the prize.
