Roxbury Hit and Run Leads to Arrest and Firearm Recovery

July 28, 2024

ROXBURY, MA – A hit and run incident in Roxbury resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old Dequell Golson of Boston, along with the recovery of a firearm and narcotics on Saturday evening. The events unfolded around 8:30 PM near Marcella Park, where a vehicle reportedly struck multiple pedestrians during a basketball tournament, injuring two, with one requiring hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Boston Police officers from District B-2 responded promptly, obtaining a description of the offending vehicle and initiating a search. Shortly after, a vehicle matching the description was stopped at 6 Dimmock St. The driver, identified as Golson, was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant and showed signs of vehicle damage consistent with the incident.

Upon further investigation, officers discovered a hidden Smith and Wesson .38 Special revolver with five rounds of ammunition concealed within a loose panel under the shifting column of the vehicle’s cab. Golson was taken into custody and during the process, requested officers to retrieve his fanny pack from the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a substance believed to be crack cocaine.

Golson faces charges related to the hit and run, as well as for firearm, motor vehicle, and narcotic offenses.
