Sayreville Overcomes Slow Start to Defeat Edison 24 12 in Big Central Showdown

EDISON, NJ – After a scoreless first half, Sayreville rallied in the second to secure a 24-12 win over Edison at Matthew J. Drawl Stadium in a Big Central Conference match.

Sayreville improved their season and conference record to 3-1, while Edison falls to 1-3 in both categories. The standout players for Edison included Anthony Calantoni, who passed for 153 yards, and Nyekir Eato, who rushed for 122 yards.

The game began without either team finding the end zone in the first and second quarters. It wasn’t until the third quarter that Edison broke the deadlock with a 76-yard run from Eato. However, the following two-point conversion failed.

In the fourth quarter, Edison extended their lead with a 12-yard pass from Calantoni to Dedrick Harvey. Despite missing another two-point conversion, Edison seemed to have control of the game at 12-0. However, details on how Sayreville scored their 24 points were not provided.

Calantoni led Edison in passing, completing 13 of 25 attempts for 153 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted once. Eato led Edison in rushing, carrying the ball 17 times for 122 yards and one touchdown.
