Schenectady fight leads to multiple arrests after knife incident on Emmett Street

A midday disturbance on a residential Schenectady block escalated into a multi-agency response Thursday, leaving one person injured and several others in custody after reports of a knife being used during a large fight.

SCHENECTADY, NY – Officers were called to the 900 block of Emmett Street at approximately 12:00 p.m. Thursday after reports of a large fight involving a weapon. When police arrived, they found a female with a small laceration to her shoulder. She was treated at the scene by medics for what was described as a minor injury.

Units from the Schenectady County Safe Streets Task Force and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with crowd control as the situation developed. Several individuals at the scene were detained as officers worked to stabilize the area.

Juvenile charged after knife attack and property damage

Detectives from the Youth Aid Bureau arrested a 14-year-old in connection with the incident. According to police, the juvenile allegedly brandished and swung a large knife, striking the victim during the altercation. Investigators also allege the teen broke two windows at a nearby residence during the initial disturbance.

The juvenile faces multiple charges, including reckless endangerment in the second degree, menacing in the second degree, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, all classified as Class A misdemeanors.

Additional arrests tied to confrontation with officers

As the investigation continued at the scene, police reported further incidents involving individuals in the crowd. Authorities said Taevon D. Wallace, 26, of Albany, allegedly displayed a small knife while engaging with officers. He was taken into custody and charged with menacing a police officer, a Class D felony.

In a separate incident nearby, Kenneth L. Pendiver, 21, of Schenectady, was arrested after police said he struck an officer in the face while officers were attempting to keep bystanders away from the scene. He has been charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation.

Officials said the investigation remains ongoing as they continue to review the events surrounding the fight and the actions of those involved.
