Search Underway for Suspects in Fatal Armed Robbery on Georgia Avenue

WASHINGTON, DC – The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch is on the hunt for two suspects following a fatal shooting during an armed robbery in Northwest, D.C. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at a business located in the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, around 2:56 p.m.

Armed with handguns, the suspects demanded money and property from the victims, who complied with their demands. Amid the robbery, one of the suspects discharged a firearm, hitting one of the victims. Despite being rushed to a local hospital, the victim succumbed to their injuries.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Philip Prendergast from Silver Spring, MD. The police are actively searching for the suspects responsible for this violent act and are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
