Second Suspect Arrested in East Fishkill Narcotics and Firearms Case

January 10, 2025

EAST FISHKILL, NY — The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has apprehended a second suspect in connection with a significant narcotics and firearms investigation in East Fishkill.

Michael S. Birney, 32, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on January 5, 2025, after agents received community intelligence placing him near Hooker Avenue and South Hamilton Street. Authorities located and arrested Birney without incident.

Birney had been sought by law enforcement since December 20, 2024, when agents executed a search warrant at a Robinson Lane property in East Fishkill. The search resulted in the seizure of an illegal firearm, ammunition, and over two kilograms of cocaine. Investigators allege Birney used the property to store, manufacture, and distribute narcotics.

Birney faces multiple felony charges, including second-degree criminal possession of a weapon (loaded firearm), and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

Following his arraignment in East Fishkill Justice Court, Birney was remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $150,000 cash bail, a $750,000 bond, or a $1 million partially secured bond.
