Gunman opens fire in Southeast DC broad daylight shooting caught on video

WASHINGTON, DC – A man pulled a handgun and opened fire in broad daylight on a Southeast street last month, and now police are asking the public to help identify him after surveillance cameras captured the incident.

The shooting took place around 1:37 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, in the 3400 block of 15th Street SE. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect fired multiple shots at the victim before fleeing the area. The victim was not hit.

Surveillance footage recorded the suspect moments before and after the shooting, and images released by police show a man holding a firearm and pointing it in the direction of the victim. Authorities did not release a motive or details about any prior interaction between the two individuals.

The footage is being used as part of the ongoing investigation, and police are now turning to the public for help identifying the man seen in the video.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the gunfire. Officials are urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has knowledge of the incident to contact police by calling (202) 727-9099 or by sending a message to the Department’s anonymous TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.

No injuries were reported, but police say the incident is being treated as a violent crime due to the use of a firearm in a public area during daytime hours.

The investigation remains open.
