Shooting leaves 25-year-old man dead in DC

WASHINGTON, DC – A 25-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday evening on Wade Road in Southeast, marking the latest act of gun violence in the area.

Around 5:16 p.m., officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire in the 2000 block of Wade Road. Upon arrival, they discovered Mark Odom suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead after lifesaving efforts failed.

The victim, identified as Mark Odom, was of no fixed address, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with knowledge of the shooting to provide tips by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
