In the New Jersey Republican primary race for governor, the only woman in the pack, Kim Guadagno has been tossed around and manhandled by her male opponents since she announced her candidacy.
They have called her silent, weak and Christie 2.0, but this week, she wasn’t silent when it came to an attack launched by one of her opponents.
Last week, Jack Ciattarelli fired a shot at the Lt. Governor criticizing her use of taxpayer services while campaigning.
In a WABC radio interview with host Rita Crosby, Guadagno defended her security detail and launched a mild critique of Governor Chris Christie’s use of his security detail while campaigning for President last year and for his activity with the Republican Governor’s Association.
She said it wasn’t as if she was traveling the country with her security detail, just New Jersey.
“I happen to be the Lt. Governor,” Guadagno said. “The Lt. Governor has a security detail, that’s the truth. I have a trooper with me all the time, I don’t know how to parse that out…I’m Lt. Governor 24 hours a day, 7 days week.”
“If that’s all Jack has to complain about, we should be talking about the issues and how dangerous it would be for the state of New Jersey if a democrat is election,” Guadagno said.
“I think it’s kind of interesting that Jack never mentioned it when I went to campaign for him when he was running in the 16th district,” Guadagno said. “Certainly he didn’t have any complaints about it at the time and it was never raised in 2013 when we ran, I think it’s just a way for him to get you to ask the question on the radio, he’s struggling, he needs to find something, and that’s not it.”
Guadagno said Ciattarelli should instead be answering for his plan to raise taxes on the middle class in New Jersey.
