Silver Spring suspect charged in deadly DC shooting

WASHINGTON, DC — A 21-year-old Maryland man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Jhonatan Guzman Hernandez in Northwest DC more than two years ago, police announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred on December 30, 2022, at approximately 2:24 a.m., when Third District officers responded to the 1400 block of Clifton Street NW for reports of gunfire. After canvassing the area, officers discovered Hernandez, 21, in the rear alley of the 2400 block of 15th Street NW, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS pronounced him dead on the scene, and his body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) arrested Alfred Steven Paulino-Del Rosario, 21, of Silver Spring, MD. He was charged with second-degree murder while armed, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, and transported to the Homicide Branch.
