Six Arrested Following Strong Arm Robbery at New Castle Wawa

NEW CASTLE, DE – Delaware State Police have successfully apprehended six individuals involved in a strong arm robbery and assault at a Wawa convenience store in New Castle. The incident occurred on May 30, 2024, at approximately 2:51 p.m. at the Wawa located at 1515 North Dupont Highway.

The suspects, identified as Chauncey Addison, 19, of Wilmington; Ziare Drummond, 19, of Smyrna; Aryanna Mercado, 18, of Newark; Heaven Mancinelli, 18, of New Castle; Destiny Burkett, 18, of Claymont; and Jashawn McNeill, 18, of Wilmington, reportedly assaulted an adult male victim after an altercation on a DART bus. The group followed the victim off the bus, continuing the confrontation inside the Wawa where they physically attacked him, resulting in serious injuries.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Shortly after the incident, a trooper spotted all six suspects near Louise Road and Mark Drive. Although the three male suspects initially fled into a wooded area, Jashawn McNeill was apprehended following a brief foot chase and physical struggle. The remaining suspects were located in a nearby neighborhood and taken into custody without further incident.

Recovered at the scene were items belonging to the victim. The suspects were transported to Troop 2, where they face multiple charges related to the robbery and assault. The quick response of the Delaware State Police, along with cooperation from the New Castle County Police Department, facilitated the swift apprehension of these individuals.
