Deputies found a vehicle stopped with hazard lights before discovering the driver asleep behind the wheel

STAFFORD, VA — A disabled vehicle with its hazard lights flashing led to a DUI arrest after a deputy found the driver asleep behind the wheel early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. Saturday, July 26, near Woodstream Boulevard and Staffordboro Boulevard.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped to check on the disabled vehicle and found the driver asleep.

Investigators said bottles of alcohol were visible inside the vehicle. After waking the driver, deputies observed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol.

Following field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested.

At the Sheriff’s Office, authorities said a breath test showed the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.

The driver was identified as Brandon Boesch, 40, of Stafford.

He was charged with driving under the influence and held at Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.

The charge is an allegation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
