Smith Falls Short to Opponent Healey in CD-3 Republican Primary Campaign Fundraising

Defiant New Jersey gym owner Ian Smith raised just $99,161 in his bid for congress while his opponent Bob Healey raised $1,039,414, more than ten times the amount Smith had raised.

Smith has been distracted lately, including his most recent DUI arrest in Cinnaminson, where he was charged after refusing to take a breathalyzer test. In 2020 and 2021, Smith gained national attention when he challenged the draconian business shutdowns imposed by Governor Phil Murphy. Smith and his business partner were arrested for violating the governor’s public health order and subsequently fined and had his business license revoked. His doors were boarded and some of his customers were also charged by police.

Now, Smith and Healey are battling each other to challenge Democrat Congressman Andy Kim. Kim is expectedly to easily defeat either Smith or Healey based on the political makeup of the newly redrawn third district that now favors Democrat populated areas of Burlington County and Mercer County heavily.

Kim, the popular New Jersey Democrat, had defeated Republicans two election cycles in a row, at a time when the third district was heavily Republican-leaning.
