Spadea, Ciattarelli to Skip LGBTQ Candidate Forums as Bramnick Joins Dems

TRENTON, N.J. — Garden State Equality is hosting a series of virtual roundtables with candidates running for New Jersey governor in 2025. The events, held throughout February, will provide a platform for candidates to discuss policies affecting the state’s LGBTQ+ communities.

The roundtables, conducted via Zoom, began Wednesday with U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-11th). Additional sessions are scheduled with Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5th), New Jersey Education Association President Sean Spiller, state Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-21st), Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, and former state Senate President Steve Sweeney.

The organization extended invitations to Bill Spadea and former state Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, but neither responded.

Each event allows voters to hear directly from candidates on issues impacting New Jersey’s LGBTQ+ communities.

The group did not say whether or not it extended invitations to other GOP candidates for governor.
