Stafford Man Arrested for Third DUI Incident

October 17, 2024

Stafford, VA – A 30-year-old man from Stafford was apprehended for his third DUI offense after reportedly consuming a mixture of heroin and fentanyl. The arrest occurred following a call made on Thursday at approximately 11:28 p.m. to law enforcement regarding erratic driving behavior.

Sergeant M.L. Jacobeen and Deputy R. Tully responded to the complaint about a blue Ford pick-up swerving on I-95 Southbound. The caller continued to follow the pick-up until it exited at 143 A toward Richmond Highway. Sergeant Jacobeen observed the vehicle traveling at 51 MPH in a 35 MPH zone and conducted a traffic stop on Oak Drive with Deputy Tully.

The driver was identified as Jacob Boyd. Boyd exhibited signs of impairment, including constricted pupils and slow speech. Field sobriety tests led to Boyd’s detention, and a search of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of suspected controlled substances. Boyd admitted to having smoked a heroin and fentanyl mix earlier that day and had previous DUI convictions in Stafford and Fairfax.

Boyd faces charges of driving under the influence third offense within ten years, possession of controlled substances, and speeding.
