October 11, 2024

Stamford, CT – The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (C.A.R.S.) of the Stamford Police Department is currently investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Atlantic Street. The incident took place at approximately 11:52 AM on Friday, when an SUV collided with a utility pole at the 690 block.

Responding patrol officers found that the airbags in the SUV had deployed. The driver, a 71-year-old resident of New York, was unresponsive. Fire Department personnel removed the driver from the vehicle and provided instant medical assistance at the scene.

The driver was subsequently transported to Stamford Hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition, and the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. Investigators are considering the possibility that the driver experienced a medical episode before the collision.

The investigation, led by Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, seeks to gather further information about the crash. The public is encouraged to come forward with any details or eyewitness accounts by contacting the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad at (203) 977-4712.
