Stamford Firefighters Contain Waterside House Blaze

August 19, 2024

STAMFORD, Conn. — Firefighters in Stamford successfully contained a house fire in the city’s Waterside neighborhood on Monday afternoon. The Stamford Fire Department responded to a report of flames at 92 Dolphin Cove Quay, after a passerby noticed smoke and called 911.

The first fire engine arrived at the scene within four minutes, finding flames emanating from the attic of the single-family home. Firefighters quickly began attacking the blaze from inside the attic and from the exterior, preventing the fire from spreading further along the wood-shingled roof.

The homeowner was not present during the incident, and no injuries were reported among the firefighters. The fire was brought under control by 12:31 p.m., approximately 24 minutes after the first engine arrived. Crews remained on the scene until 1:47 p.m. to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to perform salvage operations.

The response involved a total of 30 personnel from four engine companies, one truck company, a heavy rescue company, and both shift commanders. The Stamford Police Department, Stamford Emergency Medical Services, and additional units from the Stamford Fire Department provided support at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Stamford Fire Marshal’s Office.
