STAFFORD, Va. — A juvenile was detained following an altercation at North Stafford High School on Monday morning, during which a School Resource Officer (SRO) was assaulted while intervening in a fight between two students, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began when the SRO responded to an assault between two juveniles. While attempting to de-escalate the situation, one of the students allegedly assaulted the officer.

The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to Juvenile Intake. Criminal complaints are currently pending, the sheriff’s office reported.

The SRO was not injured during the incident. Authorities have not released further details about the juveniles involved.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office thanked Stafford County Public Schools for their “ongoing partnership and support” as they addressed the situation.
